Fertility Preservation
Future fertility is often uncertain. Whether it is from age-related fertility decline or medical conditions that render a patient infertile, there are many reasons people want to take steps to maintain their own fertility potential.
Fertility preservation is the process of freezing eggs or sperm with the intent of using them in the future to optimize future fertility potential.
Egg Freezing (Oocyte Cryopreservation)
Oocyte cryopreservation, or egg freezing, is a procedure that allows women to preserve future fertility options. The process involves taking medications to stimulate the growth of eggs, frequent monitoring with ultrasound and bloodwork followed by an egg retrieval procedure to remove the eggs. Once the eggs are removed they are processed and frozen in our lab before being transferred to a cryostorage provider for long-term storage. In the future if you decide to use your eggs to attempt pregnancy, they would be thawed, fertilized with sperm, grown into embryos and an embryo transferred to the uterus to try to establish a pregnancy. These procedures would involve additional expenses. The primary determinant of successful pregnancy is your age when the eggs are frozen. To assist in your financial planning, we have prepared a fee schedule to reflect pricing for oocyte cryopreservation.
Please note that the following amounts are an approximation of Oocyte Cryopreservation Procedure charges effective March 2022. (Fees are subject to change at any time.) | |
